Sanger Centre etc etc, email : sylvia@sanger.ac.uk I am your new database curator: an ex-geneticist who worked for many years with the colourful sporulating ascomycete fungus Aspergillus nidulans. I desperately miss those green, yellow, white, fawn and even chartreuse coloured spores. I anticipate missing even more its haploid chromosome content when I come to look at the worm genetic data. As for sex, that was something that happened in darkened incubators with a high carbon dioxide level but only needed one self-fertile (homothallic) mycelium although two were routinely used by those cruel interfering geneticists, who had to partially incapacitate the strains to make them outcross. I look forward to learning about worm genetic tricks and to meeting some of the perpetrators. If you have any queries about ACEDB please contact me. If I can't answer them myself (I'm rather new here), I'll find a passing worm who knows more about it.
